Three kids under four and a big ole doodle. Challenge accepted. This in-home lifestyle session was everything I love about photographing families in their real, everyday magic— full of life and love.

As a Portland family and newborn photographer, I’m not looking for perfect. I’m looking for real. The giggles, the snack breaks, the dance parties, the quiet baby snuggles in between it all. And this session? It had all of it.

Their cozy home had the most beautiful natural light pouring in, which gave us the perfect backdrop to let the afternoon unfold. We moved at the kids’ pace (because let’s be honest, they always set the tone), shifting from bursts of energy to those sweet, quiet moments that melt your heart.

And what made this session even more special? Their Grandpa was visiting and joined in for a few photos. You could feel how loved these guys are, and getting to capture that multi-generational connection was such a gift. These are the kinds of photos that only grow more meaningful with time.

I’m super patient by nature, which helps a lot in sessions like these. I never expect kids to sit still or follow a script—and honestly, the best moments happen when they’re just being themselves. I offer some gentle direction and natural posing when it fits, but otherwise I follow their lead. My goal is always to capture your family just as you are: full of love, connection, and personality.
