A Portland In-Home Newborn Session
If you know me, you know I love a good in home newborn session- especially here in Portland, Oregon where the cozy vibes are always strong. There’s just something magical about photographing a brand new baby in the space where your real life happens. No studio lights, no pressure- just your family being your family.
This sweet session took place in the families home, which is always what I prefer. Why? Because everyone is more comfortable, especially big sibs (and let’s be honest, parents too). No one likes packing up their car full of everything they own to go to a studio to take photos. Let’s just stay home. Your house doesn’t have to be picture perfect by any means, I can always make it work.
I like to take the session slow and easy…. because babies are babies. Sometimes they need to eat or sleep or be swaddled, etc. I have two babies of my own and I remember their newborn sessions. A lot of nursing, some spit up, outfit changes, and everything in between. I don’t rush or force anything. I use natural light and direction to gently guide you into moments that feel like you.
Big siblings and fur babies are always welcome and wanted in these shoots. And honestly big siblings are some of my favorite parts of the shoot. I know that you’ll look back on these photos one day and be so happy to see all of your kids together in these photos. I want you to remember how everyone was at that time.
I would describe my style as real moments over perfect poses. I’m a lifestyle family photographer in Portland, Oregon and I believe the best photos happen when you’re just being you. I don’t bring props or backdrops- I focus on the connection between your family and the everyday beauty of your space. Natural light, natural posing, honest and heart filled moments.
Thinking about a newborn session in Portland?
If you’re expecting, congrats! I’d love to help you document this incredibly special chapter. My newborn sessions are all about slowing down, embracing the real moments, and creating photos that feel like home.
Most families book their newborn session in the third trimester and I plan them for 2 weeks after the due date. If your baby arrives early or late, no problem. We can adjust accordingly.
